பய பீதியில் மோடியும், ஜெயலலிதாவும் - பாசிசம்=கோழைத்தனம்!
பாசிஸ்டுகளின் இயல்பே உண்மையை கண்டால் பயந்து அஞ்சி ஓடி ஒளிந்து கொள்வதுதான். பாருங்களேன் October 2004 ல் ஒரு பாசிஸ்டை ஒரு பொது மேடையில் நிறுத்தி உண்மைகளை கேட்ட பொழுது அது அஞ்சி நடுங்கி மேடையிலிருந்து பயந்து ஓடியது. இதா அதே Octoberல் 2007ல் இன்னொரு பாசிஸ்டை வேறொரு மேடையில் நிறுத்தி உண்மைகளை கேட்ட பொழுதும் அஞ்சி நடுங்கி நா வறண்டு தண்ணீர் தாகமெடுக்க பதறி ஓடியுள்ளது.
இங்கு தமிழ்மணத்திலும், வேறு பல்வேறு இடங்களிலும், சம்பவங்களிலும் கூட பாசிஸ்டுகளின் முன்னால் மறுக்க இயலா உண்மைகளை வைத்த போதெல்லாம் பின்னங்கால் பிடறியில் அடிக்க ஓடி ஒளிந்ததை பார்த்த அனுபவம் நம்மில் பலருக்கு இருந்திருக்கும். இவர்கள் அனைவருமே பார்ப்பன பயங்கரவாத பாசிஸ்டுகள்.

KT: Can I point out to you that in September 2003 the Supreme Court said that they had lost faith in the Gujarat government? In April 2004 the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court said that you were like a modern day Nero who looks the other side when helpless children and innocent women were being burnt. The Supreme Court seems to have a problem with you.
Modi: I have a small request to make. Please go through the SC judgment. If there is anything in writing, I ll be happy to know everything.
KT: There was nothing in writing. You are right. It was an observation.
Modi: If it is in the judgment then Ill be happy to give you the answer.
KT: But do you mean a criticism by the Chief Justice in court doesnt matter?
Modi: Its a simple request. Please go through the court judgment. Hand out the sentence you are quoting and let the people know it.
KT: Ok. In August 2004 the Supreme Court reopened some 2,100 cases out of a total of around 4600 almost 40 per cent, and they did so because they believed that justice hadnt happened in Gujarat.
Modi: Ill be happy. Ultimately the court of law will take the judgment.
KT: Ill tell you what the problem is. Even five years after the Gujarat killings of 2002, the ghost of Godhra still haunts you. Why have you not done more to allay that ghost?
Modi: This I give it to the mediapersons like Karan Thapar. Let them enjoy.
KT: Can I suggest something to you?
Modi: I have no problem.
KT: Why cant you say that you regret the killings that happened? Why cant you say that may be the government should have done more to protect Muslims?
Modi: What I had to say I have said at that time, and you can find out my statements.

The Narendra Modi-led Gujarat government has brought about a perceptible change in the quality of life of people in the state through various initiatives taken in the last six years, global consultancy firm Ernst and Young has said in its report. ?Gujarat has been bringing about a silent socio-economic revolution and is ready to show the way as a role model... It has managed to bring about a perceptible change in the quality of life of its people in some of the remotest corners,? the Ernst and Young report on ?Gujarat: Beyond the Obvious? said. It said the 72 initiatives conceptualised and implemented by the state government in as many months have brought about a socioeconomic transformation, benefiting scores of people across the state.
Measures by the government to improve infrastructure, attract investments and provide higher and technical education have been instrumental in improving the overall quality of life, it said. ?The state has consistently exhibited higher growth rates than the national growth average. We are growing faster than some of the Asian economies,? Modi said commenting on the report. Gujarat has a higher per capita net income of 833 dollars against the national average of 672.2 dollars, exports which account for 15 per cent of the country?s total exports and a higher sectoral growth in agriculture, industry as well as services.
The Planning Commission has given the state the highest growth target of 11.2 per cent in the 11th Plan period as compared to 10.2 per cent achieved during the 10th five-year plan. Through public-private partnerships, the state has created infrastructure like ports and roads. This model has gone beyond the traditional domains of hard infrastructure and has permeated to areas like health, education and culture. Investment promotion efforts by the state have resulted in investment commitments to the tune of 210 billion dollars, which is also reflected in a study by RBI that has ranked Gujarat first in respect to share of new corporate investments, the report said. Besides comparing favourably on the national parameters, Gujarat has become one of the favourite destinations for overseas investors as well.
The state has one of the highest FDI figures over the past few years. Gujarat International Finance Tech City, another initiative by the Modi government, integrates IT and Finance to make the state an alternative financial hub to Mumbai. The report has lauded Gujarat for the steps taken by it to increase transparency, improve governance, health and sanitation and speed up justice through programmes like ?Urban Development Year?, ?Nirmal Gujarat?, ?Evening Courts? and ?Krushi Mahotsav?.
Through the ?Jyotigram Yojana?, 24-hour power supply has been provided to rural household in more than 18,000 villages. Gujarat has one of the largest optic fibre networks in Asia, providing connectivity and access to approximately 18000 villages. Khet Talavadi (deepening of ponds and Bori Bandh for water conservation and harvesting for agricultural purposes) is another initiative at the micro-level, which has brought about a green revolution in the most arid regions of the state.
?Such programmes have gone a long way in making multiple state agencies work in a coordinated manner to accomplish a common goal of improving health and sanitation and creating cleaner and greener environs,? it said. The state?s emphasis on improving literacy rates, especially among the girl child, and curtailing drop-out rates has ?created a change in mindsets toward gender stereotypes,? it said. ?Basic literacy coupled with vocational skills have not only led to an increase in literacy ratio but has also helped in creating a large pool of skilled and technically qualified manpower thereby giving them access to better job opportunities,? the report said.
Access to quality medical care to large populations in the state through private participation schemes has led to six community health centres working on this model catering to a much larger inpatient and out-patient population. ?Gujarat has today emerged as one of the most prosperous states of India making it the definitive growth engine of the region.
The last six years have seen the state transform and compete with developed nations on equal footing and the state has already become a role model for several state economies,? Ernst and Young partner Utkarsh Palnitkar said. Bold economic innovations particularly with respect to publicprivate partnership in healthcare, education, urban development, good governance for rural infrastructure and farming, steps for gender equality, simplification of and regulations for augmenting investments have contributed significantly to the development of the state, the report said.
